EKSYDA: Jurnal Studi Ekonomi Syariah is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal. Every article submitted to EKSYDA: Jurnal Studi Ekonomi Syariah for publication must comply with the established peer-review regulations. Peer review in this journal is an evaluation of submitted articles by two or more reviewers who possess similar competencies to the authors. This aims to determine the suitability of the academic manuscript for publication. The peer-review method is used to maintain quality standards and provide credibility to the articles. The peer review at EKSYDA: Jurnal Studi Ekonomi Syariah is conducted in 9 steps, described as follows:

  1. Article Submission
Authors submit papers or articles to EKSYDA: Jurnal Studi Ekonomi Syariah online using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) by first registering as an Author via the following link: https://ejournal.staidarussalamlampung.ac.id/index.php/eksyda/user/register.
  2. Editorial Team Assessment
Submitted papers or articles are first assessed by the editors of EKSYDA: Jurnal Studi Ekonomi Syariah. The editors check whether it fits the focus and scope of the Journal. The composition and formatting of the paper are evaluated based on the Journal's Author Guidelines to ensure it includes the required sections and stylization. In addition, an assessment of the minimum required quality of the paper for publication begins at this step, including assessing whether there are weaknesses in its research methodology. Any paper that passes this stage will be checked by the Editor using Turnitin software to identify any plagiarism before being reviewed by the reviewers.
  3. Editor-in-Chief Assessment
The Editor-in-Chief checks whether the paper is appropriate for the journal, sufficiently original, interesting, and significant for publication. If not, the paper may be rejected without further review.
  4. Invitation to Reviewers
The editor sends an invitation to individuals believed to be suitable reviewers (also known as referees) based on their expertise, close research interests, and lack of conflict of interest considerations. The peer-review process in EKSYDA: Jurnal Studi Ekonomi Syariah involves a community of qualified experts in Islamic Economics, Islamic Banking, Islamic Finance, Islamic Philanthropy, and Islamic Economic Law who are capable of conducting impartial reviews. Impartiality is also maintained through the double-blind peer review used in this journal. This means the reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and conversely, the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers, as the manuscript is sent to the reviewers anonymously.
  5. Response to Invitation
Prospective reviewers consider the invitation based on their expertise, conflicts of interest, and their own availability. They then decide to accept or decline. In the invitation letter, the editor may ask prospective reviewers to provide alternative suggestions if they decline to review.
  6. Conducting the Review
The reviewer allocates time to read the paper several times. The first reading is used to form an initial impression of the work. If major problems are found at this stage, the reviewer may feel comfortable rejecting the paper without further work. Otherwise, they will read the paper a few more times, taking notes to build a detailed point-by-point review. The review results are then submitted to the journal's editorial team, with a recommendation to accept, reject, or request revisions (usually marked as major or minor) before reconsideration.
  7. Journal Editorial Team Evaluates the Reviews
The Editor-in-Chief and editors consider all returned reviews before making an overall decision. If the reviews differ significantly between the two reviewers, the editor may invite an additional reviewer to get an extra opinion before making a decision.
  8. Communicating the Decision
The editor sends a decision email to the author, including relevant reviewer comments. The reviewer's comments are sent anonymously to the respective author for necessary actions and responses. At this point, the reviewers will also be sent an email or letter informing them of the outcome of their review.
  9. Final Steps
If the paper or article is accepted, it will be sent to the copy-editing process. If the article requires improvement, it is sent back to the author for revision; the editor will include constructive comments from the reviewers to help the author improve the article. If the article is deemed unfeasible or not up to standard after the review process, it will be rejected. The author must make corrections and revise the paper according to the reviewer's comments and instructions. After the revisions are made, the author must resubmit the revised paper to the editor.

If the paper is resubmitted after revision, the reviewers must re-examine the revised version, unless they have opted out of further participation. However, if only minor changes were requested, this follow-up review can be done by the editor.

If the editor approves the revised paper, it will be published online, and all of them are made freely available as downloadable PDF files to anyone.
