Manuscript composition and layout are evaluated based on the Author Guidelines to ensure they include necessary sections and styling. Any manuscript passing this stage will be checked using Plagiarism Checker Pro and/or iThenticate to identify plagiarism before being reviewed by reviewers.
3. Editor-in-Chief Assessment
The Editor-in-Chief checks whether the manuscript is suitable for the journal, sufficiently original, interesting, and significant for publication. If not, the manuscript may be rejected without further review.
4. Invitation to Reviewers
Editors send invitations to individuals believed to be suitable reviewers (also known as referees) based on expertise, proximity of research interests, and absence of conflicts of interest. The peer-review process at Jurnal Peduli : Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat involves a community of experts in Islamic Law, Law, educational technology, learning strategies, and quality educational management who are capable of conducting unbiased reviews. Impartiality is also maintained through the double-blind peer-review method used in this journal, meaning reviewers do not know the authors' identities, and vice versa, as manuscripts are sent to reviewers anonymously.
5. Response to Invitation
Prospective reviewers consider the invitation based on their expertise, conflicts of interest, and availability. They then decide whether to accept or decline. In the invitation letter, the editor may ask prospective reviewers to suggest alternative reviewers if they decline to review.
6. Review Execution
Reviewers allocate time to read the manuscript several times. The first reading is used to form an initial impression of the work. If major flaws are found at this stage, reviewers may feel comfortable rejecting the manuscript without further work. Otherwise, they will read the manuscript multiple times, taking notes to build a detailed point-by-point review. The review results are then submitted to the journal's editorial team with recommendations to accept, reject, or request revisions (usually categorized as major or minor) before reconsideration.
7. Editorial Team Evaluation
The Editor-in-Chief and editors consider all returned reviews before making an overall decision. If reviews diverge significantly between the two reviewers, the editor may invite an additional reviewer to obtain an extra opinion before making a decision.
8. Communicating the Decision
Editors send the decision email to the author, including relevant reviewer comments. Reviewer comments are sent anonymously to the corresponding author to take necessary actions and responses. At this point, reviewers are also notified of the review outcome via email or letter.
9. Final Steps
If the manuscript or article is accepted, it proceeds to copy-editing. If revisions are required, the article is sent back to the author with constructive comments from reviewers to help improve the paper. Authors must make corrections and revise the manuscript according to the reviewers' comments and instructions. Once revisions are completed, authors must resubmit the revised manuscript to the editor.
If the manuscript is resubmitted after revision, reviewers will re-examine the revised version unless they have opted out of further participation. However, if only minor changes were requested, this follow-up review can be conducted by the editor.
If the editor approves the revised manuscript, it will be published online and made freely available as a downloadable PDF file for anyone.
